Where is my photography journey taking me next?
Several years ago, I had a clear path. I had a website, active social media pages, and a fully planned Eastern Sierra workshop for October 2019. But after retiring, I realized I needed a new direction.
Photography has changed so much since my days of shooting large format film in the 90s. Back then, it was all about selling wall prints. Today, print sales are just a tiny fraction of a photographer's income.
To figure out my next steps, I used AI to analyze my past experiences and current goals. The results gave me a clear, exciting roadmap:
- My Website: It will remain a place for inspiration and information—no pressure to monetize just yet, but fresh images are coming soon!
- Social Media: I am using Meta Business Suite to schedule posts a couple of days in advance. This keeps me connected without letting social media run my life.
- Workshops: Teaching has been my dream for 10 years. I am officially targeting Fall 2027 to launch my next workshop, with more planned for 2028. My ultimate goal is to teach photographers how to truly "see" and capture the emotional heartbeat of a scene. You don't need to overengineer your photos or have the most expensive gear—even a smartphone can capture an emotional response to a beautiful moment.
Would you be interested in joining a workshop like this? Drop a comment below or send me a message, and I will personally reach out to you with details as they develop!
